August 20, 2024

Michael Assad was appointed as Chief of Police for the Rochester Police Department. A ceremony was held at the Rochester Memorial School. This is a major step forward for the Department and the Town of Rochester.

June 16, 2024

At roughly 11:00 AM, Rochester Police units responded to Mary's Pond Road for a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival the vehicle was in flames and the operator had been extricated by a member of the Wareham Police Department and a good samaritan. The flames were extinguished and the lone occupant of the vehicle was transported to Saint Luke's Hospital.

November 09, 2023:

This morning at approximately 10:40 AM, Rochester dispatch received a 911 call from the Harvey Waste recycling facility on Cranberry Highway in Rochester. The caller reported that employees had found what appeared to be the body of a human baby in the recycling products. All processing was stopped, and the Rochester Police began investigating.

Currently, no further information is available as the Rochester Police, State Police, and the Medical Examiner's Office continue investigating.

September 23, 2023:

Yesterday evening, the Rochester Police Department responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on Rounseville Rd which resulted in a fatality. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
